Why I’m lucky to be a parent of a child with ADHD
I can use many parenting skills on a daily basis. Skills such as patience, negotiating, calming, patience, deep breathing, organising, cleaning, patience, humility, compassion, problem solving, detective skills and finally… patience.
I am able to advocate for children with ADHD. I aim to educate the uneducated and spread information about the cause, symptoms and treatment that works for us.
I am shown incredible love from a child with the biggest heart I know.
I am taught lessons I didn’t know I needed.
I have the chance to use my ‘Mumma Bear’ growl much more when he is singled out.
I feel lucky because I believe the universe does not give us any more than we can handle. Therefore I must be able to handle raising a child with ADHD.
It is not easy, that’s for sure. I often say many swear words under my breath.
But nothing worth having comes easy. The rewards of raising a child with ADHD thus far have been so amazing. We are so blessed!!!
